Who can beat Slater?

After Slater winning the third out of four events of the 2008 World Tour at 6 foot Cloudbreak/Fiji and wildcard surfer Bruno Santos winning the Tahiti event this is the question to ask his comrades.
Slaters only losses this year where against Tahitian wildcard Manoa Drollet at Chopes - so none of his opponents on the tour was able to beat him this year.
His lead in the ratings seems nearly untouchable now - he can actually be expected to extend his lead in the next event at JBay because this is one of his favourite waves.
So the 2008 World Tour looks a bit like Slaters victory lap at the end of his career as a contest surfer - with a convincing win over the hot newcomers Dane Reynolds and Jordy Smith and having shown Mick Fanning that he still is the man to beat there won't remain much to proof for the 2009 tour.
